Let’s get one thing straight—I’m not here to bash AI. Honestly, I love it. It’s a brilliant tool that can make life easier and help you run your business more smoothly. But here’s the real talk: AI will never replace the power of human connection or the value of thoughtful, personalized advice.
I’ve seen a lot of hype around AI-powered bookkeeping software lately, and while there’s no denying it’s helpful, it’s also not perfect. AI still has to be monitored—and that’s where things can get tricky.
AI Can Help, But It’s Not the Whole Solution
So, I recently tested this new accounting tool called Kick, which uses AI to categorize transactions automatically. Pretty cool, right? Except… it got a lot of them wrong. Sure, with some training it gets better over time, but AI will never catch everything.
And here’s the thing: categorizing isn’t even the hardest part of bookkeeping (shocking, I know). Once you know what’s deductible and what goes where, the real work begins with analysis—figuring out what the numbers mean, spotting trends, and giving actionable advice. And that? That’s where humans shine.
AI Gives You Data. Bookkeepers Give You Direction.
AI can spit out reports and graphs all day long, but it’s just facts on a page. It can’t tell you why your advertising expenses shot up by $500 last month or whether that’s a problem. It doesn’t ask questions like, “What changed? Is this a smart spend, or are we throwing money down the drain?”
When I work with my clients, we don’t just look at numbers—we dig in. We talk about what’s happening behind the scenes in their business. Maybe they invested more in ads to promote a new product. Or maybe the ad spend didn’t result in more sales, and it’s time to rethink the strategy.
AI won’t connect the dots for you like a human bookkeeper will. It just can’t.
AI Can’t Cheer You On—Humans Can.
Let’s be real: AI might be able to send you a “Congrats!” message when you hit a financial goal, but it doesn’t hit the same as having a real person in your corner. I can’t tell you how many times clients have said that just hearing me say, “You killed it this month!” gave them the boost they needed to keep going.
Entrepreneurship can feel lonely—especially when you’re the one making all the big decisions and dealing with all the stress. Having a bookkeeper is like having a partner who’s genuinely invested in your success. We’re not just here to crunch numbers; we’re here to support you, cheer you on, and help you grow.
The Bottom Line
AI is great. It’s a tool, not a replacement. Sure, let it help with the easy stuff—automating transactions, pulling reports, and maybe even sending reminders. But when it comes to digging deep, providing insight, and offering support, that’s a job for a human.
If you’re serious about growing your business, you need more than just data—you need direction. And that’s exactly what I’m here for.
