You’re listening to the Creative Minds Smart Money Podcast, and I’m so excited to welcome my special guest, Shannon, from the Email Club. Shannon is an amazing email marketer, and she actually works with my company, Firestorm. Um, and I’m always wowed by her skills. She’s here today to help us dive into the exciting world of email marketing.

I’m so excited to have you here today, Shannon.

Thanks for having me. I’m so excited to be here.

Absolutely. So can you go into a little bit and explain to us why you became an email marketer and kind of like what inspired you to go into that field?

Yeah, um I’ll try and give you the short version, but essentially I have been in 2020. I had been a wedding photographer for 10 years. Um, I always had heard email was awesome. I had even taken a course and tried it a little, but I didn’t really see any success. So I was like, okay, it must not work for photographers, which is kind of embarrassing that I thought that, and now what I, considering what I do, but here we are.

Um, and so after a few months of what we all know happened in 2020, I almost lost my 10 year business. And I thought, give this email thing one more try. And so I sent one email and I made 2, 600 and I thought, no way. Like, it was like, is this what people have been talking about when they’re like, you need an email list, you need an email list. And so I tried it again a few months later just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. And I sold more. And then by the end of the year, I set up some systems. I actually wound up making like 13, 000 in my business that month, just from email or that year, excuse me, from email. And I was like, Okay. How come nobody’s teaching other business owners how to do this? And I thought, ah, that needs to be me. So that’s kind of a short version of how I got here.

That’s awesome and also really inspiring, but like a true testament to why it is so important. Um, because I think a lot of business owners just rely on social media and they don’t realize the power of email marketing.

absolutely. And I think because we always hear as business owners, like you need a list, start a list, start a list. I actually would argue that’s not great advice. Like anyone can start a list, but you need to

Yes,

to use an email list in order to see success with it.

yes, absolutely. So why is starting an email list important for businesses and entrepreneurs?

I

Yes,

love it because it is a direct line to your ideal client or customer or whatever it is that you, whoever you work with. Um, and it’s one of those things that, People literally volunteer to be on your email list. They want to hear from you. They, they said they like what you have so much.

They want you in their inboxes. So you don’t have an algorithm to fight. You don’t have like the same problems you have on social as far as like making sure your content seen. And it’s just, in my mind, a really great way. Even a small email list is probably more likely to buy from you than a huge, you know, social following.

yes, yes, absolutely. And I mean, you’re obviously a testament to that. again with sending out that email and getting that like response back, which is amazing. Um, so what are the first steps someone new to email marketing should really take to get their list started?

Yeah. Um, so I think you can do this in three really easy steps. I think all you need to do is choose an email provider that you want to use. And it’s, there’s many out there. I personally use Flowdesk. I know you use ConvertKit. Um, there’s another one out there that’s completely free. I actually think ConvertKit has a free plan now too,

Yes.

there that’s completely free called MailerLite.

L I T E. I mean,

Okay.

Just pick one and go with it. Like you don’t have to go crazy. All I think offer free like, um, trials so you can see which one you like the most,

Yeah.

honestly the platform you will use is the best platform. Like it doesn’t matter which one so and so is using just the one that you will use is the best platform for you.

So figure out which one you like the most. Um, and then what you’re going to do once you’ve picked that platform is you’re just going to create what an opt in page and any email provider will walk you through exactly how to do that. So it’s

Yes.

to collect email addresses so that people can say, yes, I want to be on your email list.

I want to get emails from you. Just set that up, and then your third step is literally just talk about it. Say, I have an email list, do you want to get on it? I’m going to be talking about these things, or I’m going to be telling you about this, like, get on my list, and that’s, that’s literally all you have to do.

You don’t have to have a welcome sequence, you don’t have to have a free resource, or anything like that, you can just start emailing.

Yes. Absolutely. Absolutely. And I, I think that’s so important is you just get started.

Absolutely.

afraid. Just start somewhere and then you can build upon it eventually.

Exactly. I mean, I always had it in my head that I had to have certain things, right? Like, I have to have this welcome sequence, or I have to have this free resource, or I have to have these things set up. And then finally I was like, wait, couldn’t you just Email? Like, why, why do we need to have all the bells and whistles? You can build those later. You can add those later. Like, you can just start emailing. I didn’t even know what I was going to talk about when I first started my email list, so I just started talking about random things.

Yeah.

then as my email list changed, yes, I lost some subscribers, but I got new ones that were more aligned, or it’s just, we, again, we overthink it in our head that we need to do all these things, but really you just need to write an email and

Yes, yes, absolutely. So I know you touched on it a little bit, but, um, how can entrepreneurs really choose the right email marketing platform for their needs?

Yeah, so I think it’s especially if you’re just starting really any of these platforms we’ve mentioned will work perfect for you. So you really don’t need to go crazy looking at, you know, all the bells and whistles on 18 different platforms. You can just choose one of the top platforms that you know you’re interested in.

Um, I think. I mean, I can go crazy on each one, but like flow desk, I think works really well for creatives because you can get really crafty and make it look really pretty a lot easier than in some other email providers. You can kind of make any email look pretty. It’s just, it’s slightly easier to do in flow desk.

Right,

and then. like, great. MailerLite’s great. Again, you can make these all look the way you want. And at the end of the day, I was actually just talking to my members about this today too, which is kind of funny, but at the end of the day, like, yes, I enjoy a pretty email, don’t get me wrong, but Most people aren’t buying because your email is pretty.

They’re buying for other reasons. They’re not, I know tons and tons of extremely successful business owners that literally just put text in an email. They do not put any design. They don’t put a logo even. They just put text in an email and they sell like crazy. So I think good design, or like bad design can hurt people. your email. Whereas

right.

design is fine, but it’s kind of like a cherry on top. You don’t necessarily need it. So I say, figure out which one you enjoy using the platform in, and then just go from there.

Yes. Yes. And I know, um, it’s a common thing, like it’s called like shiny penny syndrome, where you’re like, Ooh, um, I just started using this one. And then, you know, on thread, someone says, Oh my gosh, flow desk is amazing. And you’re like, wait, should I, should I have gone with flow desk or something like that?

But I think what’s best is like mastering that platform and knowing what works best for you rather than being like, I’m going to jump from email platform to email platform.

Exactly, exactly. Yeah. And I, and I think you can always switch, right? Like people switch all the

Yes.

you, if you start using one and you’re just like, I don’t have this feature I really need, or I’m not enjoying this or that, then you can always switch. Like, that’s another beautiful thing about email is that we own those email.

I guess we don’t own the emails, but you know what I mean? We can download the email addresses and upload them into another platform. And those are yours to take with you.

Yes, absolutely. Um, so what are some effective strategies for growing an email list from scratch?

Yeah, I mean, honestly, my favorite one and the one that I feel like gets overlooked all the time and underestimated is just talking about it. Like it’s silly, but it honestly works. I know a girl that just wrote on stories not all that long ago. She goes, you want to know how I grew my email list to like 20 people the last like two weeks.

And she was like, I just talked about it. And it’s like, yeah, it’s literally the easiest way to grow your list. And I think people, we get in our heads too that like, okay, 20 people over two weeks. not unquote that many people, but

Right.

store and 20 people came into your store over two weeks, you’d be probably pretty thrilled and you’d be excited to talk to each one of those people.

That’s pretty cool. So why are we so hung up on this? Like what do you want? A thousand people? Like if you, again, if you had 20 people come into your store, would you be like, Oh, it’s only 20 people. I’m going to still stand outside and shout at people to come in. No, you’re going to nurture who’s in your store.

You’re going to answer their questions. You’re going to help them. So I think we often get like in our heads that like,

Yeah.

have to have this massive growth that probably comes from social, right? Where we have to have these, like, or we feel like we need these like massive followings and things like that.

And there’s vanity

Yeah.

and just like, no one can see your numbers. So unless you share them with people. And, um, it’s one of those things that, like I said, it’s so much more intimate of a, uh, platform that having 20 new people on your email list could change your life. You know, if 20 people bought a thousand dollar offer, you’re what a month, right?

Yes.

so it’s just one of those things that like, I think we get really obsessed with this idea of like epic growth, but, and this, I’m going off, I’m going on a little tangent here for two seconds, but I think it’s, it, uh, works here is that we hear a lot of people tell us that like, you won’t sell if your list isn’t X size. And I have proven that wrong time and time again, like they’ll say like only 2 percent of your list will buy. if you actually like specifically get really strategic about who you want on your email list,

Yeah.

just target those people. You’re going to sell a whole lot more to your list than if you are just trying to grow to grow. Um, so that’s why I felt like that was necessary there. But anyway, my favorite way to grow an email list is to talk about it. really great things that work well are, um, you can find somebody to collaborate with. So if you have another really good biz friend or just, you know, a group you’re in or something like that, you can all like, freebies or exchange email lists so you could talk about somebody on your list one week and then they could talk about somebody and you can kind of

Yeah.

exchange.

Those work really well. Um, and then obviously just, out there as far as like interviews, like podcasts and things like that, like places you can talk about your emails and your lists and just things you do to, you know, I always say like, you want to make it kind of enticing for people, right? Like they don’t

Yes.

a list.

They want to know what are they going to get out of it? What do you have on that list that’s going to help them with the problem they’re sitting in?

Yes. Exactly. Exactly. And I, I kind of find it funny when you’re like, Oh, you know, um, how she’s saying that she got 20 people over two weeks. Um, it kind of reminds me of that sound. It was like really popular on Tik Tok a while back where it’s like, Oh, I only got 60 views and they’re like, well, if 60 people came into a room with me, I would be thrilled.

Like,

or you’d be speechless, right? Because

yeah.

60 people staring at you.

Yeah. Yeah.

have like smaller lists, like, Oh, I only have 27 people on my list. I’m like, if you had a room of 27 people, you’d be probably kind of intimidated. So,

Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Um, so how can businesses encourage their audience to sign up for their email list? I know you kind of touched on that a little bit already. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

like, if you’re sharing about it on social, sometimes we forget to like, just throw up a link or like how to get on the list. Right. It’s something very simple that we just overlook, but like, you know, give them a link to opt in or give them a sticker box to say, put your email in here.

I like to have them opt in so I don’t miss type emails because I’m notorious at typing things wrong. But so I like to let people type it, but if you want to type it yourself, you could do it that way too. Um, but yeah, I think that making it easy and make it really easy for people to find. Sometimes I’ll see people be like, go to the link in my bio and scroll down to the bottom of my page.

I’m like, no, one’s going to do this baby girl. Like we need to give them just the Just, just link the page so they can sign

Yeah.

Again, it’s very easy to make these opt in pages in your email provider. It’ll walk you through them all. So just make it simple for people to get on your list and, and that way they can do it more easily with, if they have to do a lot of work, they’re probably not going to do it.

Yes! One of the things I love about working with Shannon is that they send me, like, stories that I can put on Instagram with, like, already pre built, like, link stickers. Like, put your link here. Um, and that just kind of reminds me and it gets me thinking, like, okay, I need to put this on my page. And I’ve actually gotten, I think, 13 people from my stories from those posts because people just click on the link and they sign up.

And I think that’s one of the easiest ways, again, like, like Shannon saying, like, if you just put in your story, oh, hey, I have an email list, nobody’s going to really look at it. But if you add that link in there, people are going to be like, okay, I can just go ahead and sign up without having to go anywhere else.

Yep, exactly. Exactly. I mean, I grew my list of 50 people just doing that every week. I mean, it took me 10 weeks to get to it, but time I get a couple of people, I tell my friend, I was like, Oh, I only got two today. And she’s like, it’s two more than you had yesterday. And I’m like, damn straight.

Yes, exactly. Um, so how can entrepreneurs find the time to consistently create email content?

Yeah. I mean, I know this is a constant concern and I felt this way too. When I first. It’s kind of hurt about email. It’s like, you just don’t have time for another thing, but I mean, email one is worth it. Like, I’m telling you right now, I would not do email if it wasn’t because it’s that good. Um, and I always joke, I’m like, I’m lazy.

Like, if I can find the easy way to do something, I’m gonna do the easy way. Um, I’m like, I’m, I’m like making a campaign that lazy is actually a good thing now, because I

Yes.

connotation, but I’m like, email is the lazy man’s way of marketing, in my opinion, and I think that’s a good thing. Um, but yeah, so essentially I think. helps me or helped me to get consistent with it was to pick a day I was gonna send my email every week now. I recommend sending weekly I know we haven’t gotten to that question yet, but I’ll answer it now because I feel like it fits here I recommend sending weekly because for many reasons, but essentially because one it’s good for you to get into a pattern But two it’s like

Yes.

we need to like get in front of people every you know What is it seven to eleven times or something before

Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Yeah.

uh, it used to be. It’s probably higher than seven to 11. But if you’re only emailing like once a month, then, you know, you’re only, it’s going to take you a year before people see enough of your content to want to make a buying decision or purchase, um, in theory, right?

Again, this is all kind of numbers, but that’s why I like weekly because it’s, it’s a good way to stay front and top of mind. but if you absolutely are like, there is no way I could commit to weekly, then you can try every other week or you can try, you know, two times a month and see if that works for you and you will find probably that you will have more to say, more and more to say and you will finally get into the weekly swing of things. if you have to only do monthly, you can. Again, I don’t think you’re going to see the best results with monthly, but if it will get you started, great, go for it. Um, but what I did for my weekly emails was I was like, okay, I know personally, like I could literally ask almost anyone, like, when do I send my emails?

And they probably be like Fridays. Cause I always say my emails are going out on Fridays. Um, so I just say like, okay, Friday’s sending my email Thursday. I need to write it. And so for me, I like to do it week to week. I know that’s like baffling to a lot of people, but I just email every week. I sit down and write my email on Thursday nights, and then it goes out on Friday. Um, that’s just how I work. I’m not a great batch worker, but if you are, you know, one email a week is only four emails, so you could sit down at the beginning of the month. Write out four emails and then just schedule them through the month and be done. kind of the beautiful thing about email. It’s not like social that now there’s like trending audio or that audio isn’t trending or I need to change this thing or do that or like hashtags or whatever like you can literally just have them scheduled and sent out while you’re doing other things.

Yeah. Yeah. No, that’s so true. Um, I feel like, especially with email too, sometimes it can be really spur of the moment. Like, but I know before working with you, I did the same thing. Like I was like, I can’t write ahead of time because it’s more based on like what I feel the night before. And I’m like, this is what I want to talk about.

Um, so sometimes it’s like, you know, you just can’t think that far ahead. Um, and I think that a lot of marketing is kind of emotional and there are times like, you know, when you do batch content where you need to pivot because you’re like, No, I have something more important to say right now. So I don’t think it’s a bad thing at all to like, you know, plan an email out the night before.

you’ve like already written an email, you can always pause it and send it later and

Yes.

come up. Or you can send an extra email. Sometimes I have to remind myself that like, Oh, I should add that to my, or send that on my email. And I’m like, where am I going to fit it?

And the email? And then I’m like, wait, why don’t I just send another email? Like who cares? It’s my email list. I can do what I want to.

Exactly. Exactly. I mean, I guess there are limits. I saw, um, threads at one point, there was a lady that said she got, I think it was six emails from one person in one day. And I was like, holy crap. That

I

like,

than

it’s oh my goodness.

in 12 hours from somebody.

Oh my gosh.

Yeah. It’s like, there are people out there who suggest, like email people that suggest sending as many emails as you can humanly handle, essentially. I mean, I don’t know their exact rules because I’m not in their

Yeah.

but there are people out there who do pitch this.

And yes, it, honestly, a rule of thumb in the email world is the more emails you send, the more you’ll sell. Like that’s just kind of True, but they’re usually more quality emails than they are just crap emails. And I

Yeah.

I think people kind of get in their heads that like, like email, so I don’t want to send email.

And I’m like, you’re probably getting crappy emails if you don’t like email, like, or you’re just not on the right list, right? You’re getting like

Yes.

from Banana Republic one day or something. Right. And like, you already know about that sale. You don’t need more. But. if you’re sending quality emails that people like to get, it’s exciting.

It’s fun to send those. So yeah, no, it’s, I’ve, I’ve heard this of people sending many in one day and, and again, to each their own. I’m sure that strategy works for some people and I’m sure it’s certain situations that it does work. I think once a week is okay. You don’t need to go crazy here.

Yes. And I think sometimes, especially when we’re busy entrepreneurs, like seeing our inbox fill up like that from the same person. It’s like, whoa, like what’s happening? Yeah.

I’m like, I don’t know how these people have an email list sending that many, but I stayed on it only because I’m fascinated by what, how they can manage content for 17 emails in a day. Um, but I think, again, I don’t know how it must work. They keep doing

Yes.

Uh, so how can, uh, businesses generate ideas for engaging and valuable email content?

Yeah, I love this question. So I think it’s really important to think about when, you know, when it comes to content, like, what are people asking you all the time, right? Like, what questions are they constantly asking you or what things are you answering over and over again? Or again, as we mentioned, threads, sometimes you could just scroll through there. A post I did on threads went crazy because of seeing other people talk about a situation. And so I shared something about it and of course it went crazy. You could do the same thing with email though, right? Instead of you could still share it on threads and an email, um, or, you know, you can do both, but sometimes just getting ideas of like, what are people talking about right now or what problems are my seeing them stuck in over and over again, or

Yeah.

that they’re having and I can answer those in emails, that’s like my go to for content. When it comes to email, um, but if you’re, you know, other things, other ways to kind of think about that too, would be like, what’s something you wish somebody knew before working with you, right? Like if you could touch them and tell them things, um, it in an email, right? Like put that in an email. What, you know, I’m sure you could think the same thing for like things about bookkeeping, right?

Like what you wish they knew before they came to you to book you or what

Yes.

what you wish they knew booking a package with you and like what things to look for in a bad, you know, what is a bad situation or what are red flags to look for in a bookkeeper or something like that. Like these are all things that people like need the answer to and, or just really simple things sometimes too.

Like, I think I said one time, like your email doesn’t need to be a sales page because you’re sending them to a sales page. And this girl’s mind was like blown. And I, it would have never occurred to me to have said that. as a like thing, but I was like,

Yeah.

make that an email. You know,

Uh, no, I love, I, I love too, like your, your subject lines, um, and seeing you on threads and being like, oh wait, I should make that a subject line. And I’m like, that’s so great that you’re just like constantly coming up with content as you’re responding to other people. Oh. Oh.

we have a saying in my membership that like everything is an email. So like literally you’re brushing your teeth. That’s an email like you’re. so we always tie them into stories and things like that. And it’s just, it can be really fun. And I think that’s

Yes.

forget at times because it feels like this techie thing we have to do. And I’m like, make it. fun. How can you make it interesting for people and talk to them like humans? I think a lot of times we like get an email and we all of a sudden turn into robots. Like we’re like, must buy my things. Like, why are we talking like this? Just

Yes.

your best friend.

Yes, exactly, and I think that really helps build that list, too, is when you do talk to them like that. Like, I know that in some of the emails that you make for me, we talk about people, like, actually responding back. And I think that that’s so important because sometimes, you know, People don’t think that they can respond back.

Like when you get an email from like Banana Republic, you’re like, I’m not going to respond back to this email. But when you get an email from, you know, Shannon or Samantha, you’re like, wait, I can actually talk to this person and get to know them a little bit better. Yes.

I don’t know why we’ll like DM somebody any time of day, but like an email, we’re like, Oh, should we respond? I don’t know. But, but trust us. Anytime you respond to either of us or any small business owner, we are like thrilled. So please keep responding to our emails.

It’s so cool too. Cause you’re like, oh my gosh, someone, someone actually read my email and responded to it. Like, that’s really awesome.

Have you gotten the like random person that’ll be like, I love your emails. And you’re like, you’re on my email list. You didn’t even

Yes.

were there.

Yes. Yes. Um, and I, I love to like, you know, the little quizzes where we put A, B, C, D, and then I get people that comment and they just give me a letter and I’m like, Hey, that’s cool. You’re still responding. So it still works. Yes.

too complicated for people to respond to. And I’m like, make it a one, two, three or ABC question that they can just reply a letter or a number. And like people, it’s just takes away those brain calories of us having, we think about so much all the time.

If we can just pick a letter and send that so much easier.

Yes. Absolutely. So I know you touched on it like a little bit, but what types of content tend to perform well in email marketing campaigns? Yes.

into your emails, kind of no matter what you’re talking about, will usually do well, right? It kind of depends on what we’re thinking of, quote unquote, do well, right? So if we’re talking about, you know, just getting good engagement and making people, you know, fall in love with your emails and want to open your next emails, which, you Personally, I think should probably be your goal, even though we do absolutely want to make sales. I think getting people used to open your emails and being excited to see your name in their inbox is probably like a very underrated thing that we should be doing in our emails. Um, I think just again, talking like you are who you are and not turning into this, you know, I’ll, I’ll see people like post things on threads, right?

They have these crazy stories, these crazy thoughts, and then in their emails, they’re like, hello, how are you doing today? It’s weird weather, right? And I’m like, why are you talking like this? Like, why don’t you put that crazy story you just told me on threads in this email? And I would be like. Tell me more.

Like, I want to hear everything you have to say. So I think just thinking about like what helped me a lot when it comes to getting like good content and feeling really good with email was sometimes I would go into my, like, who’s on my list, my subscriber list.

Yep.

when I was first starting and I would just scroll through it until I saw somebody that I was like, Perfect.

I’ll write this email to them in my head. And so then I would sit and be like, Hey, Samantha, how are, you know, like, and I would talk, like I’m talking to you and I would write this whole email. And then it felt more like I would got so many more responses, so much more of like people being interested and feeling like that email was written just for them, even though, you know, it was going to a list of a pretty sizable number.

Yep.

was a personal conversation because I was talking to them like they’re humans.

Yes! Um, so what are some of the strategies for overcoming writer’s block when creating email content?

So that’s one of them. I love to go through and find

Yes.

and then that way I kind of, it helps me to think, how would I talk to this person? Especially if they maybe ask me something about, like, email, right? Like, this is a

Yep.

of some of these questions. I could totally turn into an email. Um, and just, you know, talk about, like, I’m talking to a friend. Um, Um, like I said, sometimes I love to scroll different things that don’t go too crazy because obviously we don’t want to consume so much that then we’re kind of confused.

Yep.

I heard this trick actually too from somebody, I think it was on, it might have even been on threads, um, of somebody saying like, down like 52 questions that people ask you, right?

And just like set a timer for like a half hour, an hour, and just write down all these questions. And then they’re like, you have content for your email for the day. weeks, like an entire year, essentially. So just, that’s a great way of just thinking of like

Yes.

all the time and making those content.

And you can always go back to that kind of thing. Another thing you could do is go through your content you posted before and pick something and turn it into an email.

Yes.

Like, we kind of forget we can content repurpose like

Yes. Yeah.

repurposing the same content again. it’s, I, I think we think like, Oh my gosh, uh, somebody’s already seen it. And it’s like, maybe they have, but they probably don’t remember. Like, I wouldn’t.

Yeah. Well, I think that’s so important and actually, um, like, I think next month or the month after I have a lady coming on talking about content repurposing, but I think that we always forget that just because we put something out there before doesn’t necessarily mean that everybody has come and seen it.

Like, you can have 600 followers on social media. You can have, you know, 300 people on your email list, but not every person is going to see it. Um, so repurposing it.

too, right? Like if they see it in a visual format versus written format, they may digest it completely differently.

Yes, absolutely. And I think that’s so important to remember. Um, cause like, you know, you could have maybe when you’re saying, you know, they do that 52 question exercise, they might only come up with 47. Um, they could take three of those questions and repurpose them at some point throughout the year. Maybe it’s a really popular question that gets asked so many times.

And you’re like, well, I’ll just write a couple emails about it.

And that’s kind of the beautiful thing about email too, is like, I think a lot of times we think it needs to be a certain length or there needs, I think this is comes from school and those five paragraph essays that I’m, I’m like breaking people of this every

Yes.

like, but we think we need to write this like, you know, intro and three paragraphs and a conclusion and all these things.

Right. And I’m like, you could put three sentences in an email and send it like it could be literally someone asked me this question today and here’s what I said. Send. Like you wouldn’t even have to go harder than that. Um, I literally see somebody like, um, postable the site that you can like buy cards and order

Yeah.

you.

They have some, my friend actually does their emails, but, but they have some really fun emails that are sometimes just a sentence. Like they literally will be like 25 percent off cards. Click here. And you’re just like, I’m sure they make tons of money because it’s just so simple and it tells you exactly what you want somebody to do.

And I think

Yeah.

this isn’t a blog post, even though we kind of like, again, get in our heads with stuff. So keep it simple. If you’re like, I’ve sometimes just shared a podcast episode in an email and that’s it. You know, like you don’t have to go crazy here. And I, again, I think we, we get in our heads. good at that as business owners.

I think so. Yeah. Well, and there’s so much to think about. Like you mentioned, I mean, between social media, email marketing, and then like, you know, further than that, you have networking, in person marketing, everything like that. So it can definitely, we can definitely overcomplicate the things that we need to think about.

But I think email is one of the really, really simple things that we just start. And, um, one of the things I always like to

very easily.

Yes! One of the things I like to remember is one of my mentors told me, done is better than perfect. And absolutely. Like, especially when it comes to email.

too, she was like, we’re, as business owners, we’re kind of expected to be good at a lot of things.

Yes.

most, so if you’re ever in your feels about emails or anything, like most businesses have an entire team running something like that, right? So it’s unusual. Like we have to be good at selling, at video, at podcasting, at interviews, at like writing and like so many things.

And it’s like, if you’re. The best part about email is you don’t have to be, if you pass third grade, you can write an email. Like it’s that simple. Like talk like a third grader. You’re good. Send the email, like done. Call it a day.

Yes, absolutely. I love that. And I think it’s so, so valuable. Um, I want to say thank you so much for being here today, Shannon. Um, I really appreciate it. I think we got a lot of really tangible tips that, uh, my listeners can walk away with. Uh, where can my listeners find you if they want to work with you or just connect with you on the internet?

Yeah, so I basically live on Instagram. You can find me there at, um, Mrs. Dot Vandy with a V as in Victor, V O N D Y. I’m sure there’ll be a link somewhere here for you so you

Yes.

Um, and then obviously I’m, you know, you can get on my email list. And see what the fuss is all about if you would like to, um, I probably have a free resource.

I’m going to hand off to you too, that you can include. And so that way, um, we can connect and please feel free to DM me or reach out. Like I love having conversations or if you have questions about email, like it’s my favorite subject. So feel free to let me know. And I would love to chat with you further.

You can also find me on my website too at the email club. co if that’s, if that’s your jam.

Beautiful. Well, thank you again, Shannon. It was such a great episode and I can’t wait to see what our listeners say about it.

Thanks for having me, Samantha.

Bye.
